In order to ensure all citizens have access to their constitutional right to vote, Greenway Public Transportation will offer a FREE ride to the polls during the 2019 local elections in Catawba, Caldwell, Alexander and Burke Counties in North Carolina.

This offer includes a ride to and from voting sites along fixed or flex routes in Catawba, Burke and Alexander Counties, as well as call-in-advance van service from home to polling place and back in all 4 Unifour counties.

Early voting for the general elections in Catawba, Caldwell, Alexander and Burke Counties will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019.

The offer for FREE early voting transportation will conclude on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019.

Transportation to the polls also will be provided by Greenway on Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019.

For the first time, Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) will offer FREE bus fares for you on Election Day.

The COTA board voted unanimously to offer FREE fares to you on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019.

According to Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), it wants to improve access to polling places this coming election. Although the move is aimed at voters, anyone who wishes may ride the bus for FREE that day.

“The action taken by our board today reflects COTA’s organization-wide commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Mobility should not be a barrier to a better quality of life, and that includes exercising the right to vote. This will be a great benefit to the community.”

According to COTA spokesman Jeff Pullin, it will be the 4th transit authority in the state to offer FREE rides on Election Day.

The COTA board also authorized FREE fares for all veterans and active military members on Veterans Day, November 11, 2019.

The COTA board has offered FREE transportation on this day for several years.

COTA Board of Trustees have voted unanimously to authorize FREE fares for all customers using fixed-routes service, as well as COTA’s Mainstream, the authority’s ADA service on election day, Tuesday Nov. 5, 2019.

Eden Prairie Police Department is giving away FREE cell phone holders for drivers.

You can stop by the police department’s headquarters on the lower level of City Center at 8080 Mitchell Road in Eden Prairie, Minnesota on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to receive up to 2 FREE cell phone holders.

The giveaway is funded by the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund.

A statewide hands-free driving law went into effect on Aug. 1, 2019.

Cell phone use while driving is only legal through voice commands or single-touch activation.
