FREE vouchers for PSA blood screenings at Outpatient Diagnostics Center, Sampson Regional Medical Center, Clinton, North Carolina [#SampsonCounty #ClintonNorthCarolina #AllThingsFREE]

In recognition of prostate cancer awareness month, Sampson Regional Medical Center, Clinton, North Carolina will offer a limited number of FREE vouchers redeemable for PSA blood screenings performed at the Outpatient Diagnostics Center.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. That is why Sampson Regional Medical Center is reminding all men that preventive care and annual screenings are important for their health. Prostate cancer, when diagnosed early, is treatable.

Prostate cancer is most prevalent in men over 55 and in African American males. However, men can also fall into a high-risk category and require an earlier screening if they have a first-degree relative diagnosed with prostate cancer before age 65. Men that fall in the high-risk category are encouraged to speak to their provider regarding early screening.

During the month of September 2019, Sampson Regional Medical Center will offer a limited number of FREE blood screenings for prostate cancer.

If you are interested in claiming a FREE voucher, you must provide your name, date of birth, address, and phone number.

FREE vouchers are limited to Sampson County residents and must be used within 60 days of issuing.

FREE vouchers are limited on a first-come, first-serve basis.

To claim your FREE blood screening for prostate cancer and to schedule your appointment at the Outpatient Diagnostics Center, located at 233 Beaman St., call 910-592-2689, option 2.

Southeastern Health’s 2019 Prostate Wellness Event: SeHealth offers FREE prostate cancer screenings in North Carolina [#SouthEasternHealth #SeHealth #AllThingsFREE]

Southeastern Health’s 2019 Prostate Wellness Event is offering FREE prostate cancer screenings to men who qualify between Tuesday, September 3, 2019 and Sept. 10, 2019 in North Carolina.

Men who qualify must be 55 to 69 years old or “at risk” and between the ages of 40 and 54. Men who are considered “at risk” are minorities or those who have a family history of prostate cancer. Patients also must have not had a prostate-specific antigen test in the last year (2018), do not have prostate cancer, and currently are not under the care of a urologist.

According to Dr. Mike Popovic, a urologist who treats patients at Southeastern Health’s Lumberton Urology Clinic, screenings are the best way to detect prostate cancer at its earliest and most treatable stage.

“Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of mortality in men. There are no specific symptoms of early prostate cancer, so it may only be detected by elevated PSA. Screening can also pick up other associated problems, such as prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia or urinary issues.”
– Dr. Mike Popovic

The screening is a two-part process.

First, walk-in PSA blood draws are happening at a variety of times at 12 different Southeastern Health clinics, followed by an exam at one of 4 Southeastern Health clinics. Patients must have completed their blood work in advance to participate in the FREE exam.

The follow-up exam visits will all take place on a walk-in basis at 5:30 p.m.

Patients can choose to have their follow-up exam at either Southeastern Medical Clinic North Lumberton on Sept. 17, Southeastern Multi-Specialty and Urgent Care Pembroke on Sept. 19, Southeastern Health Center Clarkton on Sept. 24 or Lumberton Urology Clinic on Sept. 26.
