Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that FREE bus service from Providence to Quonset Business Park will continue through the end of 2019.
RIPTA had announced the FREE Quonset Express service in January 2019 as a pilot that was due to end April 2019. The service is a partnership with the Quonset Development Corporation, and is partly funded by a federal grant.
The service consists of two nonstop trips from Kennedy Plaza to Quonset in the morning, and two trips back to Providence in the afternoon on weekdays.
Within the park, the buses stop at about a dozen locations, including Electric Boat, Toray Plastics and the Ocean State Job Lot distribution center.
