Francisco Rutiaga has not taken a day off in over a year. But he’ll soon get one when his family’s restaurant, Taqueria Don Pancho, closes Friday, May 31, 2019.
To celebrate its upcoming expansion, the restaurant will offer FREE food to its customers Friday.
The family-owned Mexican restaurant opened inside Loop Liquor & Convenience Store, 26 Business Loop 70 E., Columbia, Missouri, in December 2018 with a six-month agreement.
The Rutiagas chose not to renew their lease in the standing-room-only space so they can have more room and expand their menu.
Rutiaga said this has been encouraged by customer input.
“(Our guests) tell us, ‘Hey, we need some tables because we want to eat here. Our food tastes awesome when we get home, but we also want to sit down and watch you guys cook and do all this.’”
Rutiaga said the decision to offer FREE food Friday was an easy one
“It’s another chance to give back and to say thank you,” he continued. “They show love and support to us. We want to show our love back.”
