FREE health screenings – A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) and Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) – Kirksville, MO [#FREEHealthScreenings #ATSU #KirksvilleMO]
Students with A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) and Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) will provide FREE health screenings to uninsured patients in Kirksville.
Screenings are run by Still Caring Health Connection, in affiliation with Volunteers in Medicine, and sponsored by ATSU-KCOM and ATSU-MOSDOH.
The event is student-led and provider-supervised.
So many people in the area do nt have access to good health care so the students want to reach people in the community without insurance giving them access to preventative medicine.
Doing these screenings are important for the students too because it gets them out of the books and into real life scenarios with patients.
The students are supervised by an attending physician, but they are the ones interacting and helping the patients.
Services provided include medical history and physical exam, diabetes and cholesterol panel screenings, osteopathic manipulative medicine treatment, education, wellness plans, and community resource training, oral health education and disease prevention screening, fluoride varnish, and oral hygiene education and instruction.
The screenings are first come, first served.
Patients must sign a document stating they do not have health insurance.
Patients do not need to bring any other forms of identification or health documents to the screening.
For more information about the health screenings, patients should email SCHC AT atsu.edu
