This Valentine’s Day, the Kentucky River Foothills Development Council is providing FREE transit rides to the Berea Bus Service, Richmond Transit Service, BIG E Transit (EKU) and Winchester-Clark County Transit Services as a part of its #ILoveMyLocalTransit promotional campaign.

In addition to giving FREE transit to riders, KY River Foothills is giving the opportunity for people to enter their name to be drawn throughout the day for the chance to win FREE ride tickets for city routes. Prizes also will be given away randomly throughout the day.

The council is encouraging riders that day to take a photo or selfie while in route on the bus and posting it to forms of social media using the hashtag #ILoveMyLocalTransit. They can also take photos and write notes to show appreciation for their favorite drivers.

The photo that best shows how much a rider loves the service will receive 10 FREE bus passes for the transit system of their choice. Also that day, KY River Foothills will make planned stops for photo opportunities with the Berea, Winchester and Richmond mayors giving out Valentine’s Day goodies.

Transportation Director Karmen Marcum said that the FREE transit is a way to not only say thank you to local riders, but a fun way to recognize the need for public transit.

The bus will meet with Richmond Mayor Robert Blythe at 9 AM, Winchester Mayor Ed Burtner at 11:16 AM and Berea Mayor Bruce Fraley at 1:45 PM. at each individual city hall.
