Skin Cancer Awareness Month: Melanoma Monday: FREE skin cancer screenings in Florida

The first Monday in May is designated as Melanoma Monday to promote early detection of skin cancer.

Several Tampa Bay area hospitals and dermatologists are offering FREE skin cancer screenings as part of Skin Cancer Awareness Month.

The hospitals offering FREE skin cancer screenings are:
• Morton Plant Hospital: Cheek-Powell Heart and Vascular Pavilion, 455 Pinellas St., Clearwater, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• South Florida Baptist Hospital: Community Health Resource Room, 301 N. Alexander St., Plant City, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Winter Haven Hospital: Main Lobby 200 Ave. F N.E., Winter Haven, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The events are FREE and open to you, but registration is required.

Screenings will be limited to exposed skin only. If screeners detect an abnormality, you will be directed to follow up with your dermatologist.
