FREE community health and wellness fair: FREE mammograms health screenings flu shots domestic violence resources [#FREEHealthScreenings #NationalCity]

A coalition of community groups and government agencies are offering FREE mammograms, health screenings, flu shots and domestic violence resources Saturday, October 19, 2019 morning during a FREE community health and wellness fair.

The event is “in honor of breast cancer and domestic violence awareness month.”
– the office of San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan, scheduled to provide welcoming remarks at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The fair is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CARE Community Center at 12 North Euclid Avenue in National City, California in the strip mall on the corner of Euclid Avenue and Division Street.

Scheduled workshops include:

“Breast Cancer: Diagnosis, Treatment, Recovery,” from 9:35 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.
“Surviving and Thriving the Breast Cancer Journey,” from 10:35 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
“Domestic Violence: Silent No More,” from 11:35 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.

The fair will also feature FREE health screenings, food distribution, gift raffles, giveaways and games and activities for children.

The event is sponsored by the District Attorney’s Office, Susan G. Komen San Diego, Every Woman Counts, Vamos a Charlar, the Office of Binational Border Health, Binational Health Week and the San Diego Domestic Violence Council.

The Superior Court in Pima County and the Pima County Bar Association will host Court Night 2019 at the Abrams Public Health Center in Tucson, Arizona, where you can learn about legal issues.

Local attorneys and professionals who have practical knowledge of the topics will be presenting at the event. The presentations are designed to help you learn about important legal issues that may affect your daily life.

Lexington Fayette County Health Department is offering FREE flu shots again to the community.

The department’s annual FREE flu shot event will be held 1-7 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Fayette Mall in Lexington, Kentucky, near the interior entrance of Dillard’s.

The shot is recommended for all people 6 months of age and older.

FREE Potatoes at Church Hill United Methodist Church, Reedsville, Pennsylvania [#FREEPotatoes #UMC #Reedsville]

There will be 20,000 pounds of potatoes FREE for the taking at Church Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 28, 2019.

The church, located at 199 Woodland Circle, Reedsville, Pennsylvania will receive the half-trailer of white potatoes that have been gleaned from fields and have been rejected by potato chip factories because of size or small blemishes. They will be FREE to the public for any individuals or nonprofit organizations.

“It’s offering a way for them to feed themselves and provide potatoes to our neighbors or shut-ins or people living alone that may not be able to shop for themselves. It provides churches the ability to reach out to their neighbors.”

The potatoes will be available on a first come / first serve basis beginning at 8 a.m.

The church is still seeking volunteers to help sort potatoes into 5 pound bags and to hand them to people picking them up. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8 a.m. Potatoes are expected to be handed out by noon.

Remaining potatoes will be distributed in neighborhoods by local churches.

Community Health Foundation’s Health Expo ‘19, the area’s premiere version of a health and wellness open house, will offer a range of screenings, information and demonstrations aimed at keeping the community healthy and informed.

The event will be 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Arts and Conference Center, 275 S. Limestone St. in Springfield, Ohio.

Admission is FREE. Pre-registration is not required.

The expo is for people of all ages.
